The Crafter's Way 10

Each week I write a craft column for the North Lakes Messsenger. I decided to share it with bloggers once its been published.

The Pine Rivers Shire Council Library at Pathways has a wonderful variety of craft books to borrow. Many of these books are recent releases. Borrowing craft books from the Library is an inexpensive and convenient way to learn a new craft. The Pathways Library is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm. Thursday 9.00 am – 8.00pm. Saturday & Sunday 10.00 am – 3.00 pm.

Both Books come from the Doll’s House Do It Yourself Series by Sue Hawkins- 745.5923 HAW.

The first book is Carpets & Rugs. This book features a wonderful collection of over 25 miniature carpets and rugs. All projects are designed to accessorise a one-twelfth-scale doll house. The book includes detailed information on making up carpets & rugs, everything from stretching to fringing. Most of the carpet designs are completed using canvas. An ideal way to use up small offcuts. Also included is a rag rug and a stitched felt rug.

The second book is Embroidered Projects. Designs are for the one-twelfth-scale doll’s house. It features over 30 beautiful embroidery projects to suit any doll’s décor. Clear stitch diagram and instructions for finishing each of these projects are included.

If you find large needlework patterns a little daunting these miniature projects might just be for you.

Pathways Library also has the other two books in the series; Toys and Games by Jane Harrop, and Food Display by Sue Heaser.

Thank you for you wonderful response with ideas fro the column. I’m currently following up on your ideas. In the meantime don’t hesitate to email on trishalan1@bigpond.com.au or ph: 0417615071 if there is anything you would like included.
