The Crafters' Way 72 - Local Blogs

I write a weekly craft column for a local paper. I share it here with bloggers or you can view online at http://www.northlakesmessenger.com.au/

Local Blogs

A couple of weeks ago I reviewed a book Decorating Junk Market Style. One of the authors, Ki Nassauer, contacted me after that review to say thank you. This contact lead me to her blog, http://www.junkcamp.blogspot.com/ This blog is filled with stories of Ki’s search for junk. It’s lots of fun. A blog with a similar theme is http://www.restyledhome.blogspot.com/ If you like to makeover household items there are lots of ideas. While I know Australians have never really ‘got’ pumpkin decorating the author has some ideas for some quirky pumpkins using household items. They will make you smile.

http://www.meetmeatmikes.blogspot.com/ This blog’s page layout is easy to read and navigate. Makes you want to stay. The authors have a weekly theme where readers can contribute their images. It’s a great read. On the left hand sidebar they have their favourite links and a blogroll. Click on that and you will be occupied for days.

http://www.elsita.typepad.com/ is fascinating. After reading an interview with the Elsa Mora, who is the author, I just had to have a look. This lady is incredibly talented, from flower designs to using her own button creations with line drawings on linen. Click on the sidebar to go to her ‘papercut’ blog. Her work is art.

http://www.twinklestarart.blogspot.com/ is a local blog. Amanda Francey is a Brisbane Artist specializing in personalized illustrations and design for kids. The image appearing with this article is one from Amanda’s Paris Series. To see more of her art you can also visit her Etsy store http://www.twinklestartart.etsy.com/ her prices are so reasonable. I love the Kissing Frogs. Click on the photo to go directly to Amanda's Etsy store.

Another Brisbane blog is http://www.hotfudge8.blogspot.com/ Robyn is a designer who was encouraged to start her own label after making original clothing for her grandchildren. She comes from a long line of tailors and dressmakers. Robyn uses beautiful fabrics carefully coordinated to create outfits your children will want to wear. Her clothes are sure to become heirlooms. You can also purchase Robyn’s clothes at her Etsy store http://www.hotfudge.etsy.com/

Thank you Trish for including my blog in your post. The other blogs look fascinating and I will make a point of reading them. I have long been a fan of Amanda's art and read her blog on a regular basis.

By the way, I love your Indy pictures - you must have had such an exciting time.
