The Moreton Bay Regional Council Library at Pathways has a wonderful variety of craft books to borrow. Many of these books are recent releases. Borrowing craft books from the Library is an inexpensive and convenient way to learn a new craft. The Pathways Library is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm. Thursday 9.00 am – 8.00pm. Saturday & Sunday 10.00 am – 3.00 pm.

This book is fabulous. Don’t try and borrow it just yet, I could have it for a while. The authors show you how to take other people’s cast offs, a nicer word than junk, and turn it into something stylish for your home. The How-To’s are simple, focusing more on the technique than the actual project. The book has been written to inspire YOUR ideas rather than copying theirs. Take a tip. Really look at the photos. There is lots more to see than just the written description.
Crafts and Craft Shows (How to Make Money) by Philip Kadubec (745.50688KAD)
If you’ve been thinking about selling your craft work then this book is worth look. The Author is American and while some of the information is irrelevant to us most is great advice. Two Chapters were the standout for me. Chapter 3 covers Pricing Your Product, Chapter 10 – Wholesaling Your Product. If you read nothing else in the book these two are a must.
Maskmaking by Carole Sivin (731.75 SIV)
This isn’t the prettiest craft book ever published but don’t judge a book by its cover. Most of the photos are in black and white with a couple of colour gallery pages toward the middle. This book has something for every skill and interest level. From children’s paper masks through to celestic masks and every type in between. The last chapter covers basic lesson plans for mask making with school children. For older children this book might make a great activity during the next school holidays.
