A Different Look at Chester

Chester is a walled city. Surviving from Roman times the wall gives you great views of the city sights. It took us about an hour to stroll around.

Just to the right of this arch were the stairs we climbed to get to the top of the wall.

It was really early so there weren’t too many people out and about yet.

Chester Cathedral. From around the other side we spied a squirrel playing under the trees. Alan got some pics of that. Funny, I always thought they were similar to our possums but the are much smaller, more like a kitten really.

In some places the wall drops down to street level before rising back up again to protect the city from marauders.

Across the River Dee.

Built in 1503, hard to imagine it surviving that long. Obviously Chester doesn’t have the Dean Bros.

We’ve completes the loop. This is looking in the opposite direction to the first picture, looking thought the decorative fret work. Off to Wales tomorrow.
