The Crafters' Way 99 - BrisStyle Goes to Market

Here is this week's Messenger column.

BrisStyle Goes to Market

BrisStyle is a cooperative group of artists, crafters and artisans all living in the Greater Brisbane area who sell their wares on Etsy. Saturday 4th July is the date of the second BrisStyle Indie Designers Market at St Augustine’s Church Hall. Situated in the heart of Racecourse Rd, Hamilton the hall and grounds will be the perfect location for over 55 local Etsy stores to set up shop in a boutique style atmosphere.

If you are in need of a new hat for this year’s Winter Racing Carnival the market is the place to go with not one but two milliners. Christine from Whynotstreet rediscovers old, torn, worn, dusty and often forgotten hats and redesigns them into stunning one of kind creations. Sandrine from SM Boutique has recently returned from France so I’m sure that you will find hats with plenty of Parisian Flair at her stall.

Bubba Chenille recreates chenille into the most gorgeous children’s clothes, bags and cushions. Her fabric tags have featured in National Newspapers. Check out her stall to see what all the hype is about.

Pret a pawte uses funky fabric and trims to create pet collars and accessories. Alison and her husband Tony adopted Alvin the cat in 2008. Being a modern cat Alvin wasn’t interested in the usual collars so Pret a pawte was born, with collars for dogs as well. The collars are functional as well as well as fashionable. Only the highest quality fabric and hardware is used. So if you have a four legged fashionista make sure you visit Alison and Tony’s stall.

Ruby 2 GoGo is launching her new range of Scooter Girl Iron on T-shirt Transfers at the market. I have one of these and I love it. Helen, the ever energetic designer behind Ruby 2 GoGo, will also have her Scooter Girl Necklets, Brooches and Rings on display.

These are just a few of the wonderful handmade goodies available at the BrisStyle Indie Designers Market. Support independent emerging artists, crafters and designers at Brisbane’s hottest destination for everything handmade. The BrisStyle Blog http://brisstyle.blogspot.com/ will keep you up to date with all the latest news and the behind the scenes views of their many talented members. I will also be there so pop by and say hello.
